What is AVM ?

Around view monitor or usually we are called by AVM system, is one of function which is already build in Nissan - All New Xtrail. 

This system provides a virtual 360-degree scene of the car in bird's eyes view. This system is a support technology that assists the drivers to park more easily by better understanding the vehicle's surroundings trough a virtual bird's eyes view from above the vehicle. 

What is this  Technology Function?

A driver can check for obstacle around the vehicle, trough the birds-eyes view. AVM display in Nissan - All New Xtrail is consist of Bird of view, left view, and Front view (while "P" position) or Bird of view, left view, and rear view (while "R" position).

The Around View monitor processes video from four cameras. (front, back, left Right) and also integrated with sonar sensor behind of the car. While object detected Head unit and speedometer will show the warning sign in color (yellow =safe, green = risky, red = dangerous). 

The sonar indicator is not only by sight but also sound, buzzer will be sounded by Speedometer depend on the distance of object. it will become faster sound if the object is near.

How to use it? 

It's easily to use, you can just move your lever in R position or push DISP button. While you use DISP button, camera will shown 2 time display AVM and Right Camera. This display will always shown, before the 3rd push or while you run your vehicle below 10 km/h. 

Is there any weakness point? 

This system cant completely eliminate blind spots. Maybe it will not detect every object and does not warn of every moving object. The driver still have to always check the surroundings before moving the vehicle.
